PhillyXL mentors are high school and college students — and adults who want to give back — who support younger learners on the same path they're walking. Peer mentorship works because proximity does.

What's involved

It's less than you think

  • 4–8 hours per month

    Monthly sessions with your matched student, plus async check-ins as needed. The commitment is real but bounded.

  • No teaching experience required

    You're not an expert delivering lectures. You're a peer sharing what you know. Our matching process puts you with students working on what you've recently learned.

  • Structure provided

    We give you session guides, conversation starters, and a team contact if you need support. You don't have to figure out what to say.

  • Mentors and organizers welcome

    Whether you want to work one-on-one with a student or help run workshops and events, there's a role for you.
